Kate & Wills Arrive in Gatineau, Quebec for a Citizenship Ceremony.

Prince William and Kate arrived in Gatineau, Quebec to preside over a citizenship ceremony, the first of several events scheduled for the couple's second day in Canada.

The royal couple took to the stage at the Canadian Museum of Civilization alongside Immigration Minister Jason Kenney and Gov. Gen David Johnston shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Friday.

More than 20 new Canadians will be sworn in at the ceremony, including candidates from Belarus, China, India and Madagascar. The royal couple presented miniature flags to the 25 new citizens in Ottawa following their swearing-in.

For today's celebrations, Kate chose an outfit with a nod to Canada Day. She wore an cream dress, red fascinator, red shoes and a colourful Anya Hindmarch fan-shaped clutch with tassel (marked down from £350 to £175 and sold out).

Kate's cream mid-length day dress with an asymmetrical ruffle and three-quarter-length sleeves was the same Reiss 'Nannette' dress from the official engagement photos shot by Mario Testino. On her lapel, she wore the Queen's diamond maple leaf brooch.

Cocked a bit to the side, Kate wore a red straw saucer fascinator by Lock & Co’s milliner Sylvia Fletcher. It was festooned with stiff, sculpted maple leaves.

Additional details about Kate's straw 'Fan Clutch' in cream and red
'Straw clutch finished off with our signature gold bow and over-sized beaded tassel.'

Kate borrowed the diamond maple brooch from the Queen, who wore the same piece for the Canada Day celebrations in London last year.

I have since found additional info on the Maple Leaf Brooch and a detailed picture (thanks to My Small Obsessions on FB).

The Queen (as Princess Elizabeth) wore this brooch in the shape of a maple leaf during her first visit to Canada in 1951.
